Math: We have started a new unit on perfect squares and square roots. Lesson 8-62 explores how to estimate the square roots of non-perfect squares, also known as square numbers, to one decimal place. Complete questions 6-8 on page 131 for Friday. These questions practice finding a square root without a calculator. To access an online version of this lesson, go to www.hellosmart.com. Enter as a guest. The class ID is 674 390. I will have it active as much as possible during non-instructional times.

Science: Bring your home emergency plan guide Thursday. This handy book is meant for families to get together and fill in important information that would be needed in the event of a disaster. You can then place it in your emergency kit at home.

French: We are practicing using the phrase "Il y a" when naming buildings and places in Victoria. This meets two outcomes for lesson 13. Complete the sentences 9-15 on the handout for Thursday. This will be collected and assessed on your progress in using Il y a and the buildings vocabulary.

Miscellaneous: The next pizza day is Friday, January 28.

Handouts for all the lessons are available in PDF below. The science Get Ready Guide is too large and cannot be downloaded. It is available in the Google Classroom announcements.
