Math:
Complete lesson 8-13, Exploring Preserving of Equality, page 118,
questions 8-10. There is an extra worksheet to practice simplifying
expression using the distributive property. This is all due Wednesday. The answer keys are on the homework page.
There will be an end of unit algebra test on Friday, December 18.
Science: We are learning the geological processes of the Earth. Can you discuss the following:
Topic 1: Our Layered Planet
- Know the layers of the Earth and some basic information about their properties.
- Be able to explain and defend which food item is the best representation of these layers.
Topic 2: Continental Drift
- Be able to explain what evidence Wegener had for his theory of Continental Drift. Why was his theory not accepted? What evidence was he missing?
Topic 3: Seafloor Spreading
- Be able to explain what seafloor spreading.
- Know why Wegener would have benefited from knowing about it.
Topic 4: Plate Boundaries
- Be able to identify diagrams from each type of boundary and briefly explain what happens at each boundary in terms of plate movement.
Draw Reference Diagrams
Topic 5: Ring of Fire
- Be able to explain what the Ring of Fire is.
- Know why the evidence provided from plotting earthquakes, volcanoes and mountain ranges supports the theory of plate tectonics.

Topic 6: Volcanoes
- Understand how many volcanoes there are in BC and why they have formed.
- Explain why is it important for us to learn and study traditional knowledge as in the case of the Nass Valley.
Topic 7: Earthquakes
- Be able to explain what is happening in terms of plate movement along BC’s West Coast
- Know why Scientists predict a megathrust earthquake in the next 100 years.
French: The written review questions for lesson 14 are due Tuesday.
Miscellaneous:
-Final pizza day of the year is this Friday! Orders are due by Tuesday.
-We are having a class social Friday afternoon. You may bring snacks and drinks, but they cannot be shared.
