Math: Complete the following questions from lesson 1.2 on Math Makes Sense:

Pages 15-16
Questions 5-8, 13-15, 19-20
Bonus Challenge: 21

These questions are due Monday for Div. 15, and Tuesday for Div. 13. Check your answers on page 496 in the back of the textbook. Below you will find an attachment on what square roots are and some practice exercises. You will have received it in class, but you can print a copy if you lose it. Make sure you place it in your newly created reference section of your math binder.

Science: This week we started our Tomatosphere research project, where students investigate the effects of the space environment on the growth of tomato seeds. Students plant two sets of tomato seeds. One package contains seeds sent into space on the International Space Station or treated in space-simulated conditions (space-simulated seeds undergo treatments that simulate the extreme conditions of interplanetary travel). The other contains "control" seeds, which are untreated. Students plant the seeds and conduct experiments to explore the effects of the space environment on the germination of tomatoes. Through Tomatosphere, students learn how to conduct a scientific experiment and compare germination rates of the two groups of seeds. Classrooms discover which seeds are the “space” seeds and which are the control group after results are submitted.
