As you may be aware there has been a pipeline incident outside of Prince George, BC that has resulted in a constrained supply of natural gas supply to British Columbia.
Fortis has advised all customers that the supply of natural gas will be affected throughout the winter and that at current pipeline capacity, the gas supply may be vulnerable. Any sort of extended period of colder weather could lead to loss of service for major industrial or commercial customers, or even large residential complexes.
As a result of this situation, Fortis has requested that all customers voluntarily reduce their usage. At SD 63, we have reduced our heat in our buildings by a few degrees to do our part.
