The Gauss Math Contest is an international math contest aimed at middle school students. It focuses on participation rather than competition. NSMS will be participating again this year. There are Grade 7 and Grade 8 versions of the test; Grade 6 students are also encouraged to participate and will write the Grade 7 version. The contest takes place on Wednesday, May 16th. Students will be excused from their regular class to write the test. Interested students should talk to their math teacher by Thursday, April 19th. to sign up.
Preparation:
- visit http://www.cemc.uwaterloo.ca/contests/past_contests.html#gauss and work on problems from past contests.
- Girls can join our Gauss Girls Math Club on Wednesdays at lunch
- Boys who are interested in a similar opportunity should talk to Ms. Carruthers.
