NSMS School Awards

This fall we consulted with staff, students and parents about our school awards. It was decided to change them up a little bit. We wanted to place a larger focus on student effort and work habits. As a result we have added the Hawk Award. Below are our school awards and our dates for acknowledging these students.

Principals Academic Honour Roll:

Student must achieve an “A” in Humanities, Science and Mathematics in all three terms during the school year. Grade 6 students only have to have “A's” in term 2 and 3. Certificates will be placed in report cards. Students who achieve this standing will be invited to a luncheon on June 25th.

The grade 8 Legacy Awards:

We have 10 Legacy Awards that are voted on by the staff and the end of the year. They include awards from all aspects of school life. These awards will be handed out at an assembly on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 9:15 AM. Parents of winners will be notified.

Hawk Award Criteria:

  1. Students will receive all Good (G) or Excellent (E) marks in Work Habits on their Report Card.

  1. Student can receive a special nomination from their teacher based on drastic growth in their perseverance, effort and/or engagement in their school work. All teachers who teach these students will agree that the student deserves to be honoured with a Hawk Award.

Winners of Hawk Awards will be announced at our Monday morning assembly on June 22, 2015. Certificates will be placed in report cards. Go Hawks!
