The North Saanich Recreational Mountain Bike Club is starting its 16th year.

Information meetings for the Mountain Bike Club are on Monday, Feb. 25th at recess for students and Thursday, Feb. 28th at 6:30 for parents.

Our focus is on having fun while participating in a sport. From an educational standpoint, mountain biking provides students with:

- exercise

- cycling skills (balance, predicting the effect of changing terrain, etc.)

- team work

We have two groups of riders.

The Novice group introduces new riders to the sport, as well as providing a venue for more experienced riders who prefer a low-intensity ride. This group normally stays on the lower 1/2 of the mountain.  Ms. Mah is back this year to run this group!

The Intermediate group(s) is intended for students wanting a more challenging ride than the Novice group. Members of this group need to have previous experience with mountain biking. Intermediate riders travel into the higher areas of the park, and come down technically challenging trails. Those riding in the Intermediate group(s) need to be in good physical condition and have a good background in mountain biking. Depending on numbers, this group may break into 2 groups of either friends or be divided by skill level.
