New School Bus Passes
November 23, 2017
Dear Parents and Students,
In our effort to increase safety and accountability we are introducing a new school bus pass program. The new system will enable our department to track ridership numbers, overload situations, but most importantly know when a rider is on the bus and when a rider gets off the bus. This gives us the valuable information of who is on a bus at any given time.
The new bus passes will be distributed to registered bus rider students currently in middle school and secondary school. After the initial implementation we are aiming for the bus pass program to expand to the elementary school level.
Once the bus passes have been issued it will be the riders’ responsibility to scan on and off the bus. The scan units have been installed on all buses by the front doors. This scanning process will be mandatory for all registered riders. We understand this scanning process may be intimidating to our elementary school students so we have decided it will not be mandatory for them but we would greatly appreciate any and all efforts made to get these students also using the bus passes.
As per previous years, the initial cost for these bus passes will be absorbed by the transportation department of School District 63. The replacement cost for a lost bus pass will also remain the same as previous years. ($10) Bus pass replacement costs for elementary students will also be waived at this time.
If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact the transportation department via email at transportation@sd63.bc.ca
Sincerely,
Eric Fischer
