Re: Student Class Placement for 2013-2014

At the beginning of June we will be building our classes for next year. Every effort is made to place children in the best situation for their success. The final placement decisions are the responsibility of the school, but we do take input from parents in two ways:

1. Parents can speak with their current teacher about their child.

2. Parents may fill in a Student Placement Information form by May 30, 2013 and return it to the office. Forms can be picked up at the school office or downloaded from the link above (20130524112434894.pdf)

May 20th is Victoria Day - so no school.

Thursday, May 23 is an Early Closure day.  School will dismiss at 2:08, with buses running early to accomodate this closure.

Our Spring Band Concert is on Thursday, May 30 in the NSMS Gym.  Join us to hear our talented students play a wonderful variety of music!  The concert starts at 7:00.

Band members should arrive at the school at 6:30 and meet with your band group in the room Mme. Robillard has designated for you.

Dear Grade 8 Parents and Guardians:

Re: Grade 8 Farewell Meeting

We will be having a meeting for all parents interested in planning the Grade 8 Farewell Graduation that will take place on Wednesday, June 26, 2013. At this time, we have been receiving some input from parents, but we need a parent group to help with the planning and running of the celebration portion of the evening.

The organizational meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 14 at 6:00 PM in the school library. If you would like to help out, but cannot make the meeting please email Christine Bennett at cbennett@sd63.bc.ca.

3.  Grade 5 Parent Information Night - Wed. May 15th at 7:00 PM.  MPR

This event happens on Monday May 6th at 10AM at the Sidney Bandshell.  It is in conjunction with music programs all across Canada who will be performing at the same time.  Our featured musicians are Ed Robertson from Barenaked Ladies, and Christ Hadfield from the Space Station, who will perform a song written for this event.

Today, 2:15 there will be an opportunity for parents to meet with one of our District Assistant Superintendents to discuss the appointment of a Vice Principal for next year.
