Baking Powder Biscuits
Ingredients
250ml (1 cup) flour
1ml (⅛ tsp) salt
10ml (2 tsp) baking powder
8ml (½ tbsp) sugar
60ml (¼ cup) butter (margarine/shortening)
100ml (⅓+ cup) milk

Pastry cutter, or two knives

Method:

Preheat oven to 400° F

Put the flour, salt, baking powder and sugar into a large bowl. Mix together.

Cut the butter into the flour mixture with a pastry cutter, or two knives until the mixture looks like bread crumbs.

Add the milk all at once and stir just until the dough forms a ball around the fork.

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured board and knead about 4-6 times.

Pat until about 1cm thick

Use the top of a beverage glass to cut the dough into rounds.

Place on baking sheet.

Bake for 8 - 12 minutes.
This quickbread recipe can also be used to make cinnamon buns. Roll the dough to 1cm thick rectangle, brush with melted butter and sprinkle a brown sugar/cinnamon mixture on the melted butter. (5ml cinnamon/30ml brown sugar) Roll and cut into equal sections. Bake for 10-15 mins.
